Description
Hillside Farmhouse is a farmhouse located on the west side of Main Street in Claydon, marked as Hillside House on the Ordnance Survey map. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of ironstone ashlar and features a steeply pitched slate roof. The gables are stone-coped with moulded kneelers, and there are blue brick end stacks. The farmhouse is designed in an L-plan and consists of two storeys plus an attic, with a five-window range. The entrance is located at the rear. On the ground floor, there are fine two-light wood mullioned and transomed windows with stone flat arches. The five similar windows on the first floor have crown glass, lead cames, wrought-iron casement fasteners, and springs. The interior has not been inspected.
