Description

Foxes Lift Bridge is an accommodation lift-bridge located on the Oxford Canal. It has origins from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The bridge features a tilting wooden plank deck, wooden handrails, and two balance beams set at a raking angle. It is supported by brick abutments with concrete sills, and has brick wing walls with trailing edges and stone rubbing blocks on the faces facing the canal. This bridge is part of an important series of lift-bridges on the Oxford Canal, representing a type that is now rare in England.
