Description
No. 253 High Street is a house dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of painted brick and features a gabled roof covered with old tiles, along with a brick end stack and a cross-axial stack. The building has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range.
The exterior includes a rendered plinth and a renewed top dentilled brick cornice. The entrance, located to the left of centre, features a late 20th-century door that has replaced a six-panel door, set within a moulded frame topped by a renewed gabled hood. The windows have late 20th-century glazing, which has replaced mostly small-paned casements. On the ground floor, there are segmental-headed windows with three-light casements at each end, and a canted bay window to the right of centre. The first floor has two windows, each with three-light casements. The interior has not been inspected.
