Description

Leasowes Farmhouse is a farmhouse believed to date from the early 18th century, with possible earlier origins. It underwent refronting and an extension to the left around 1837. The building is constructed of brick with colourwashed render on the front facades and features a gabled Welsh slate roof at the front, with plain tiles at the rear.

The farmhouse has three storeys and a four-window range, along with two single-bay ranges at the rear and a further single-storey extension that includes a large side stack, likely part of the original house, with infill under a catslide roof. The central entrance features a part-glazed door beneath a projecting open porch with a slate roof and bargeboards. To the left of the entrance is a three-light wooden mullion-and-transom casement window, with two similar windows to the right. The first floor has four three-light windows with glazing bars, while the second floor has four thermal windows with metal casements and glazing bars. There are also casement windows in the gables, and the building has two end stacks and one off-centre left ridge stack, all with cogged cornices.

Inside, the right part of the front has beamed ceilings, and the rear range features a large inglenook fireplace with a bressumer beam and a bread oven. All the listed buildings at Leasowes Farm form a group.
