Description
The piggeries at Leasowes Farm, including the yard walls, date from around 1750 to 1771, with the pig-yard walls heightened around 1837. They are constructed of reddish-brown brick in stretcher bond, featuring purple brick dressings and a gabled plain-tile roof.
The exterior consists of a range of four pigsties, each with a pig-pen, and an additional range to the right. The yard wall abuts the sties on the left and continues along two sides. The openings for the sty are chamfered and round-arched, while a further opening to the right has a plank door. The eaves are adorned with modillion detailing. The walls are approximately 1 meter high and topped with rounded brick copings.
Inside, the roof retains its original purlins and rafters, which are visible in the right part of the structure. All the listed buildings at Leasowes Farm are part of a group.
