Description
The stockyard buildings and yard walls, located approximately 20 meters southwest of Trewoofe Farmhouse, are a group of piggeries, a swill kitchen, and associated yard walls, mostly converted into living accommodation. They date from the early 19th century and are constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings, including some reused 17th-century chamfered masonry. The roofs are made of wet-laid scantle slate with gable ends, and there is a brick chimney on the right-hand gable of the piggery.
The layout features L-shaped ranges of piggeries and possibly loose boxes, with the former swill kitchen positioned in the corner facing a square yard enclosed by adjoining walls. There is also another range of two stables on the right-hand east side of the front end, which remains the only part not converted to living accommodation. The buildings are single storey with unaltered elevations, although some former doorways have been fitted with windows. The south front of the piggery has five openings, while the west front has three openings. The stables have two doorways on the south front, and there is a doorway into the right-hand end of the piggery that features a reused 17th-century sill or head from a former two-light mullioned window used as a lintel. The interior has not been inspected.
