Description
The stable range to the north of Leasowes Farmhouse is a building that likely dates from around 1837, with some later alterations. It is constructed of reddish-brown brick and features gabled roofs covered with plain tiles, some of which have been renewed. The building has an L-shaped plan and is a single storey with 13 narrow bays arranged in a pattern of 8:5, with narrow pilasters between each bay.
There are three entrances: two with split plank doors and one with a part-glazed door, all set under elliptical arches. The windows are 20th-century casement types, with one located to the right under an elliptical arch in what was formerly an entrance. There is also a blocked entrance to the left part, which has an elliptical arch. The eaves are cogged.
Inside, the left range features a variant of a truncated collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and lower angle braces, along with one tier of purlins and original rafters. The wall adjoining the threshing barn abuts the stables to the west. All the listed buildings at Leasowes Farm are part of a group.
