Description
Rose and Crown House is an inn that has been converted into a house. It dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a timber frame with brick infill, while the ground floor has late 20th-century brick with some render. The roof is covered with late 20th-century tiles, and there are brick stacks at the rear. The house has a two-unit plan and includes single-storey additions at the back. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has a two-window range. The front entrance features a late 20th-century half-glazed door and canted bays, along with an early to mid-19th-century continuous wood fascia that has a dentil cornice. The first floor and roof dormers have wood and iron casements, with the first floor including glazing bars. The rear of the building is obscured by the additions. Inside, the exposed framing is a notable feature.
