Milestone. Mid C19. Ashlar, of 2 stages, the second stage with pyramidal top. Inscribed '6 miles/To Shakespeare's Town whose Name/Is known throughout the Earth/To Shipston 4 whose lesser Name/Boasts no such Poet's Birth' and 'Crux men lux/After darkness LIGHT/From light home flows/and Peace in death/In Christ a sure repose 1871'. Coats of arms are carved on either side of the monument, and the panels are cusped. Included for group value.
