Description
This milestone, located on the west side of Clay Coton Stanford-on-Avon Road, is likely from the mid-19th century and made of limestone ashlar. It is a rectangular stone featuring a moulded cornice topped with a ball finial. The inscription reads: "Stanford on Avon. co. Northampton 3/4, Stanford Hall, co. Leicester 1, Swinford 2, Rugby 7 1/2, Lutterworth 5 1/2". This milestone is positioned near the boundary of Stanford-on-Avon parish and forms a pair with another milestone nearby. It is similar to other milestones located at SP 6170 7813 and SP 6168 7814 on Stanford-on-Avon Road in Elkington.
