Description
The presbytery attached to the Roman Catholic Chapel of St Peter and St Paul is a cottage that dates from the late 17th century, with additions and alterations made around 1823 and in 1962. The ground floor is constructed of painted coursed ironstone rubble, while the first and second floors are made of painted brick. The building has brick end stacks, with the right stack featuring a stone base. It stands three storeys tall and follows a two-unit plan, topped with a slate roof.
The central entrance consists of a plank door that has a moulded wood frame and wood lintel, flanked by 20th-century windows. There are covered exterior stone steps leading to the first floor chapel on the right, which is illuminated by a three-light wood-mullioned window at the top of the stairs. Each of the first and second floors has two casement windows with semi-circular arched heads. The interior features beams and has been remodelled in the 19th and 20th centuries. This building is included for its group value.
