Description

The presbytery at the Catholic Church of SS Peter and Frances is a two-storey building with an attic, constructed from red brick and tile that matches the adjacent church. The brickwork features English Garden Wall bond with some decorative diaper patterns in blue bricks. Architectural details taken from the church include bullnose brick string courses and a high plinth.

The roof has a cruciform shape at two levels, with a range running east-west and a wing extending south, both containing attics. The higher roof is hipped with canted angles on the west side, featuring a dormer, and has a hipped roof with one canted angle on the east side, also with a dormer, while the south side is gabled. A lower eaves level includes a double-width wing that extends north with paired hipped roofs, which support large multiple stack chimneys.

The main elevation faces west towards the street and displays the flank of the north wing, the three-bay canted end of the west wing with bays separated by buttresses similar to those on the church, and the flank of the south wing, which includes the main entrance door. The windows on both storeys are camber-headed with label moulds that continue as string courses, and there are string courses at the sills. Unfenestrated areas are decorated with diapering.

Some original windows with four-pane sashes above single-pane sashes remain on the north and east sides, while other windows have been replaced with uPVC frames. The front door consists of nine panels with top glazing, accompanied by additional top and side glazing.
