Description

Two houses, located on the east side of Church Street, Shipston on Stour. The main fabric dates to the late 18th century, although a wing to the rear was constructed in the late 17th century. The houses are constructed of brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a stone plinth, a dentilled eaves cornice, and stone-coped gables. They have a plain tile roof and brick end stacks. The buildings are three storeys high, with a five-window front.

The house at No. 34, on the right, has a 19th-century brick porch with a 19th-century part-glazed, six-panelled door, a pilaster surround, and a flat hood supported on consoles. No. 36, on the left, has a 20th-century panelled door with a similar pilaster surround and flat hood. A further doorway in the centre, now a passage, was originally a front entrance and features a brick flat arch. Most ground-floor and first-floor openings have a sixteen-pane sash window. All five second-floor openings contain twelve-pane sashes. All windows are topped with brick flat arches.

Behind No. 34 is a late 17th-century two-storey stone wing featuring a four-light mullioned window with a hood mould and label stops. The interiors were not inspected, but are likely to be of interest.
