Description
17 College Street is a town house built in the 1820s. It is constructed of brick with buff headers and has stucco dressings, topped with a slate roof and a brick end stack. The building features a double-depth plan and is designed in the Georgian style, standing two storeys high with a two-window range. A top cornice adds to its architectural detail. The entrance, located to the right of a window, has a moulded doorcase with a flat cornice and an overlight featuring decorative glazing bars. The door itself consists of three fielded panels over two flush panels. The windows are fitted with sills and rusticated wedge lintels with keys, above 16-pane sash windows. College Street is part of the area that developed on the site of the medieval priests' college, which existed until 1799, and is surrounded by high-quality early 19th-century housing.
