Description

No. 16 College Street is a town house dating from the 1820s. It was built as part of the development of land previously occupied by a medieval priests' college, which was demolished in 1799, within an area of high-quality early 19th-century housing. The house is constructed of brick with buff headers and stucco dressings, and has a slate roof with brick end stacks. It follows a double-depth plan and is of a Georgian style, with a symmetrical three-window facade. The eaves are plain. The front door is set within a Tuscan aedicule and features an overlight with decorative glazing bars to a three-fielded-panel door. The windows have sills and rusticated wedge lintels with keys over sixteen-pane sashes.
