Description
Quineys is a house located in Shottery, Stratford-upon-Avon, dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries, including a 20th-century rear range. The building features timber framing with brick infill and a high rubble plinth, topped by a renewed tile roof with brick stacks. It has a 2-unit plan, with a later addition or rebuilding to the left and a rear range that includes an attached garage. The house is single storey plus attic, with the entrance situated to the right of the center, featuring a 20th-century split door with sidelights. The windows have leaded glazing; on the ground floor, there are two windows to the left of the entrance, an elliptical-headed window, and a segmental-headed window to the right, all fitted with 2-light casements, with the elliptical-headed window having a single light above the transom. There are four gabled dormers with 2-light casements, and a small light on the first floor between the first and second dormers. The building has a stack at the rear of the ridge and an end stack. At the rear, there is a parallel gabled range and a garage with a timber-framed gable facing over plank doors.
