Description
Lavender House is a cottage located in Stratford-upon-Avon, dating from the 17th century and extensively altered in the late 19th century, with two 20th-century rear wings. The building is constructed of brick, featuring some timber framing with plaster infill, and has a tile roof with a brick stack at each end and one on the ridge. It is a single-storey structure with an attic and has a three-window range. The brick walls support a timber-framed first floor. The entrance is located to the left of the center and features a 20th-century door. The right end has a lean-to porch that leads to an inner return. The windows are leaded casements with transoms; the ground floor includes two windows with three-light casements at the ends, a combination of two-light and single-light casements in the center, and a 1:4:1-light casement in the porch. The first floor has half-dormers with two-light casements. The right return is brick and features hipped bay windows, along with a 20th-century rear wing that includes an attached garage. The building is included for its group value.
