Description
No. 35 Shottery is a house built around 1830, constructed of brick with buff headers and featuring a tile roof with a hipped end, brick end stacks, and a cross-axial stack. This Georgian-style building is arranged in an L-plan and has two storeys with a symmetrical three-window range. It is topped with a modillioned brick cornice. The entrance includes a doorcase with a bracketed open pediment above a six-flush-panel door. The segmental-headed windows have 16-pane casements on the ground floor, complemented by enriched cast-iron window boxes, while the first floor features 16-pane sashes flanking a 12-pane sash. The left side facing Hathaway Lane has a segmental-headed entrance and varied window styles, including small-paned glazing and an oriel window with a coved base. The rear elevations show later alterations and additions. This house is a well-preserved example of early 19th-century architecture.
