Description

Ardencroft is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century, with further developments in the 17th and 18th centuries, and a refronting in the 19th century along with early 20th-century additions. The structure features timber framing with lath and plaster infill, and whitewashed brick. The roofs are a mix of old tiles and concrete tiles, with brick ridge stacks and a lias external stack. The building has a complex plan, consisting of one storey and an attic, as well as two storeys, and presents a three-window range.

The main range includes one exposed post, and the entrance is located at the left end, featuring a small gabled brick porch with a carved panelled door. The windows are arranged irregularly, with casements that include some with glazing bars and others with leaded lights. Two ground floor windows have brick segmental arches, and there is a dormer in the angle. An early 20th-century wing projects on the right, with windows facing the front and left side. A late 18th or early 19th-century wing on the left was likely once a separate cottage but has been incorporated into the main house with a single-storey link from the 19th or 20th century. This wing displays exposed large thin framing and has a concrete tile roof.

Inside, some areas feature exposed close studding, and the left side is said to have been opened up into a single room showcasing exposed timber framing. Other rooms reportedly have exposed beams.
