Description
The gate pier, wall, and end pier at Edstone Lodge date from the early 19th century and are constructed from sandstone ashlar. The piers stand approximately 2 meters high and feature an ovolo-moulded plinth and a square shaft topped with a shaped cornice. The gate pier is further topped with a stepped plinth and a ball finial, which is believed to be a 20th-century replacement. The solid wall, which curves to the south for about 4 meters, has an ovolo-moulded plinth and stands around 1.5 meters high, finished with cambered copings. This structure originally served as the entrance to Edstone Hall, which was demolished and replaced in 1936 and is not included in this listing. The gate pier, wall, and end pier form a group with the gate pier, wall, and piers to the north of Edstone Lodge, as well as Edstone Lodge itself.
