STUDLEY BIRMINGHAM ROAD SP06NE (East side) Mappleborough Green 1/201 Moat House Farmhouse and Moat Cottage

Farmhouse, formerly manor house; now 2 houses. Late C16 and C17 (VCH), with C18; C19 and C20 alterations and additions. Timber framed with whitewashed brick infill, underbuilt in whitewashed brick. Tile roof; brick ridge and end stacks. Complex plan, 2 storeys and attic: 2-window range. C20 plank door with tile hood, and one-light casement on left and right. Window at ground level on right; 3-light window on left. C19 and C20 casements with glazing bars throughout. Left return side faced in whitewashed brick has external stack. Wing to rear with brick dentil cornice. One-window range, with brick segmental arches. Right return side has large first floor window. Rendered gable. To rear: Right wing has exposed framing to first floor and gable, with one jowled post; left gable has framing. C19 casements. Interior not inspected. C20 additions or alteration on right has sham framing and porch. Originally the manor house of the manor of Mappleborough Green or Studley Hay. (V.C.H.: Warwickshire, Vol.III, p.176).
