Description
Cottage Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 17th century, with early 19th century and mid-20th century alterations and additions. The building is timber-framed and faced in whitened brick, topped with plain and machine-tiled roofs. It consists of two framed bays aligned north to south, featuring external end chimneys. The east front has been refronted with the addition of three adjoining gabled wings. There is a single-bay north addition from the 19th century that continues the roofline, along with a 19th century lean-to addition at the front. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a dentilled eaves cornice.
On the east front elevation, the main section has two ground floor 2-light casements and two first floor 2-light casements, all with plank weatherings. There is a central first floor circular window with radiating glazing bars, and a central lean-to porch supported by timber posts, which has a 20th century door. The lean-to to the north features a 2-light casement at the front. Inside, some moulded ceiling beams are visible. A 19th century single-storey kitchen wing is attached to the south gable end, which has undergone 20th century alterations to its east elevation.
