Description
Manor House and Manor Cottage is a house that has been divided into two homes. It likely dates from the mid 17th century, with alterations made in the mid 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from slatestone rubble, with a painted front. It features a slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles and gable ends, along with rubble gable end stacks and a rendered stack on the front slope.
Originally, the house had a three-room and passage layout, with one room on the left, a passage, and two rooms on the right. The end rooms on both sides are heated by gable end stacks, while the central room is heated by an axial stack. The roof appears to have been raised in the mid 19th century, resulting in the axial stack now being located on the front slope. There is a stair hall located at the rear of the central room, and the right end room has been converted into a separate house.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a three-window range, with all windows dating from the 19th century. On the right side, there are two paired 18-pane sash windows at both the ground and first floors, along with a 20th-century door at the far right. A partially rebuilt gabled porch features unglazed lancets on each side, and an inner half-glazed 19th-century door with an overlight. On the left side, there is a triple 18-pane sash window at both the ground and first floors, with a timber lintel at the ground floor. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in July 1986.
