Description
The Manor Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, with remodelling occurring around the late 19th century. It is situated alongside garden walls at the front (north). The front elevation is granite ashlar with a granite lintel course, incorporating stuccoed bay windows. The remainder of the building is constructed of rubble with granite dressings. It has grouted scantle slate roofs with brick chimneys on the gable ends, and cast-iron ogee gutters.
The house follows a T-shaped plan, with a lean-to outbuilding attached to the rear wing on the left side. Originally it comprised two rooms at the front, with a service wing set at right angles to the middle. Around the late 19th century, bay windows were inserted into the front.
The north front is symmetrical with three windows and a central doorway. The doorway has a C19 six-panel door with roundels in the central panel, fielded panels, and a four-pane overlight. Above the doorway is a C19 12-pane horned sash window, set within the original opening. Two-storey canted bay windows flank the front, each featuring pilaster mullions, a moulded entablature, a hipped roof, and horned sashes with glazing bars.
Inside, the house features a rectangular garden at the front, enclosed by a low rubble wall with a granite coped top. The wall runs parallel to the front, and includes a central entrance with round-headed granite piers.
