Description

Castle Farmhouse, dating circa 1835, is a rendered building with some stone detailing, including a moulded stone string course and cornice. It has slate roofs with parapets and gable parapets, and rendered stacks. The house is arranged in a U-shaped plan and constructed in a Gothic Revival style. It is two storeys high, with a five-window front. A central castellated porch features turrets and a 4-centred arched doorway, leading to a double-leaf, four-panelled door. A central arched window is set within a blank arch above the doorway, and the gable is shaped with a finial. Straight-headed windows incorporate paired 4-centred sashes, all with hood moulds. The wings of the house have castellated canted bay windows on the ground floor, with arched windows above. Gable parapets are finished with finials. The return sides and rear elevations are plain. The interior has not been inspected. The farmhouse was likely built in conjunction with Studley Castle.
