Description
A row of five early 19th century houses, numbered 265 to 273 High Street, Henley-in-Arden. Numbers 267 and 269 have been combined into a single property. The houses are built of brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with a gabled roof tiled with old tiles, renewed at the left end (number 265). They feature a brick stack at the front of the ridge to the left, a later 19th century brick stack to the rear of the ridge, and three similar stacks at the front of the ridge. Each house originally had a single-unit plan, except number 267, which has a two-unit plan.
The exterior is two storeys high with a six-window range. A top dentil brick cornice runs along the top. Most entrances are arched, as are the windows to the right. Number 265 has a plank door, number 269 has a wide-boarded door, numbers 271 and 273 have half-glazed panelled doors—the door to number 273 sits within a pegged frame—and number 267 features a central entrance with a four-flush-panel door and an open timber porch with a dentil cornice and latticed sides. The ground floor windows are six in number, featuring two-light, small-paned casements; number 267 has two windows with later canopies. The first floor also has windows with two-light, small-paned casements. Number 267 has two gabled dormers with plain bargeboards and similar casements, some of which are iron opening casements. The interior was not inspected.
