Description

This is a mid-19th century milepost located at the corner of the road to Preston on Stour in Alderminster. It is made of cast iron and has a standard triangular-plan structure with a chamfered top. The lettering on the top reads "ALDERMINSTER PARISH." The left side indicates distances to Stratford (3 1/4 miles), Henley (11 1/4 miles), and Birmingham (26 1/2 miles). The right side shows distances to Shipston (7 miles), Chipping Norton (17 1/2 miles), and Oxford (35 miles). Each side features a relief pointing hand at the top.
