BILLESLEY

SP15NW Dovecote approx. 21m east of 1931-1/1/5 Billesley Manor Hotel at SP 145 568 06/02/52 (Formerly Listed as: Pigeon House at Billesley Manor)

GV II

Dovecote. C17 (or possibly C15, AMS); restored C20 by National Trust. Coursed blue lias rubble, partly rendered; steeply pitched renewed tile roof. EXTERIOR: north end has low entrance with timber lintel over gate, with blocked opening above. West elevation has projecting course. South end has ledge below peak of gable. East elevation has remains of plastering and small hole. Roof has 2 rebuilt gabled louvres. INTERIOR: walls lined with stone nesting boxes, recorded as having 700 boxes; one tie beam and collar truss with struts.
