Description

The barn and stable located immediately north-east of Billesley Manor Hotel dates from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed blue lias rubble and features a steeply pitched renewed tile roof. The building has a long rectangular plan consisting of eight bays.

On the south elevation, there are two entrances leading to the threshing floors, each with brick segmental heads and key blocks above paired plank doors. To the west, there is a single-storey projecting bay that includes an entrance with a plank door and a pitching hole with a pegged frame. To the right, there is a segmental-headed window with a brick head above a three-light casement, along with ventilation slits.

The north elevation mirrors the south, featuring similar barn entrances, with one retaining its doors and the other blocked, along with a pitching hole in between. The west end has a stable door with a window to the left and a pitching hole above.

Inside, the barn has queen post trusses with principals that end above the purlins. The roof at the west end includes cut tie beams and queen posts that rest on the first floor.
