Description
There are two barns and a stable located immediately west of Court Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century with additions from the 18th and 19th centuries. The western barn is a three-bay structure made of weatherboarded timber framing on a rubble and brick plinth, with a rebuilt brick rear wall and a tiled roof that has a half-hipped end.
On the south elevation, there is a central entrance for the threshing floor featuring plank doors, along with a lean-to outhouse at one end and a brick rear wall that has diamond ventilation patterns flanking a stable-type door with a shuttered pitching hole above.
The eastern barn is constructed from coursed blue lias rubble with ashlar quoins, brick eaves, and verges, topped with a tiled roof. Its south elevation also has a threshing floor entrance with plank doors, and a similar entrance at the rear, which includes a blocked slit to the left and an open slit to the right.
The stable at the eastern end is built of brick over rubble, featuring a 19th-century brick addition with a tiled roof. It has two stable doors and a gabled pitching hole on the left end, while the rear has lower eaves and an entrance to the right, along with a segmental-headed unglazed window to the left.
Inside, the barns feature tie beam and collar trusses with crossed principal ends, while the stable has chamfered beams.
