Description
This is a cottage located at 1 Butter Street in Alcester, dating from the late 17th or 18th century, with significant alterations made in the mid to late 19th century. The building has a timber frame, with the front rebuilt in whitewashed brick, although some timbering is still visible on the left side. It features separate roofs, with old tiles on the right and 20th-century tiles on the left, along with a brick chimney. The cottage is designed in an L-shape and consists of one storey and an attic, with a two-window range. The entrance, located in the projecting range on the right, has a mid-19th-century half-glazed four-panelled door set in a moulded wood doorcase with reeded pilasters. There is also a plank door leading to a rear passage on the left. The ground floor includes two early to mid-19th-century bow windows with glazing bars, while the attic features 19th-century casement dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
