Description
Crusoe Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th century, which was largely rebuilt or refaced in the 19th century and extended in the mid to late 20th century. It features a timber frame with large irregular framing and whitewashed brick infill, with some parts underbuilt and plastered. The front has been rebuilt in whitewashed brick, and the roof is covered with old tiles, while the addition has concrete tiles. The cottage has a brick ridge and internal stacks.
It has a two-unit plan that has been extended to a three-unit layout, with one storey and an attic that includes dormers. The front has a two-window range, a 20th-century ribbed door, and an open timber porch. The ground floor features two small mid-20th-century canted bay windows and two casement windows, one from the 19th century, all under brick segmental arches. The mid-20th-century casements have leaded lights. The left side of the cottage is largely plastered but shows an exposed collar of a roof truss. At the rear, there is some exposed framing and irregular fenestration. The interior has not been inspected.
