Description
Whitestones is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features a timber frame with lath and plaster and whitewashed brick infill, sitting on a lias plinth. The left side facing the street has been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The cottage has a 20th-century tile roof and brick stacks at each end. It has a two-unit plan with a lean-to on the right, is one storey high with an attic, and has a one-window range with the gable end facing the street. The entrance includes a 19th-century plank door and an open timber porch. The windows are 19th-century casements with glazing bars, and there is a 19th-century timber-framed raked-roof dormer. The left side has both 19th and 20th-century casements, while the right side features 20th-century casements. The cottage retains most of its original gable framing, and the interior is noted for its exposed timber framing.
