Description
Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1600, with significant rebuilding occurring around 1810. It is said to have stone on the south side inscribed with "ISH 1810." The structure is primarily timber framed with lath and plaster infill, but much of it has been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. The roof is covered with old tiles, featuring brick ridge lateral and internal stacks.
The farmhouse has a complex plan and stands two storeys high, with a four-window range. The entrance is located on the right return side. The front facing the farmyard consists of three adjoining gabled ranges. The left range is timber framed and showcases ornamental panelling on the first floor and gable. The ground floor is underbuilt but retains posts with remnants of square pilasters and curved brackets. The first floor jetties out, supported by a moulded bressumer, and features a curved oriel window with painted sham framing. The jettied gable has a bressumer with remnants of a scroll pattern, and projecting wallplates display large original moulded pendants. The other gables are made of simple brick.
The windows are primarily 19th-century casements with glazing bars, some of which are set under segmental brick arches. There is a blocked window on the left side of the ground floor and a corner window above it. A large central stack made of thin bricks has six shafts with V-pilasters, although the tops have been rebuilt. The right return side features an early 19th-century part-glazed six-panelled door with an overlight and a trellis porch, along with irregular fenestration. The irregular left return side has two two-panelled doors. The garden front is also irregular, showcasing four gables and an attached one-storey and attic outbuilding beyond.
Inside, the farmhouse has broad chamfered ceiling beams and a mix of two-panelled and six-panelled doors.
