Description
Hollow Meadow Farm includes a cartshed, barn, shelter shed, and stable, built in the mid to late 18th century with some minor alterations in the 19th century. The buildings are constructed of squared coursed ironstone and feature a brick dentil cornice throughout. The shelter shed has upper walls made of brick and 19th-century brick pillars, all topped with old tile roofs. The layout is L-shaped, with the stable located in the right wing and the cartshed on the left, following an end entry plan with three bays. The entrance is on the left return side, and the structure has a hipped roof. Inside, one wall is lined with brick, and the roof features queen struts. The central barn has three bays and a low plank door leading to the yard, with wood lintels throughout and a left gable made of brick. There is a wide doorway at the rear and a through purlin roof. The shelter shed to the right also follows an L-plan with sill bays, although the right bay is largely filled in with brick. The stable has a lower half of a stable door with an unglazed overlight, a hayloft door to the left, and a large bricked-up doorway to the right that has a plank door inserted. Inside the stable, there is a chamfered beam, hayrack, and trough. This group of buildings is included for its group value.
