Description

The courtroom and dairy range, located approximately 10 metres north of Manor Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century and forms two sides of a courtyard. It is constructed from finely jointed coursed squared limestone and features a steeply pitched stone slate roof laid in diminishing courses, with stone coped gables.

The courtroom is two storeys high and has two entrances on the ground floor, which are fitted with plank doors and moulded wood doorframes with wood lintels. It has three two-light stone-mullioned windows, each with hood moulds and label stops. The first floor contains a tall opening with a wood lintel. Inside, the courtroom boasts an arched braced collar beam roof supported by through purlins, with principal rafters pegged at the apex and common rafters. The walls are plastered, and there are two courses of nesting holes on the exterior.

The dairy range is also two storeys and features a two-window range. The ground floor has two entrances to the left, with wood doorframes and wide plank doors, and wood lintels. To the right, there is a four-light and a three-light stone-mullioned window, both with hood moulds and label stops, along with three blocked lights. The first floor has two three-light stone-mullioned windows with hood moulds and label stops, and four blocked lights. There is an attached covered way with a red tiled roof. Inside, the brewhouse/washhouse to the left includes a stop-chamfered bressumer over the fireplace, a brick copper, and an enclosed wood winder staircase, with cheese rooms above featuring stop-chamfered beams. The dairy to the right has stone flag floors.
