Description

The Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century, consisting of two builds. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and limestone ashlar, topped with steeply pitched stone slate roofs that are laid to diminishing courses. The gables are stone coped, and there is a stone lateral stack. The house has an L-plan layout and is two storeys high with a two-window range. The entrance, located to the right, features a four-centred arch stone doorway with chamfered jambs and soffit, leading to a plank and rail door. To the left of the entrance, there is a three-light stone mullioned window with lead cames, crown glass, bars, and a small opening light. On the first floor, there are a two-light and a three-light stone mullioned window, all of which have hood moulds and label stops. The gable-fronted section to the right is a single storey plus attic, with a single-window width. This section has renewed 20th-century casements with wood lintels on both floors and stone quoins. The right end features a stone slated chimney projection made of buff and red brick. The interior has not been inspected.
