Description
This building, located at 1 Sheep Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, is a town house that likely dates back to the 17th century, with a refronting from around 1800. It is constructed of stuccoed brick with an internal timber frame and features a hipped tile roof that slopes to the right, topped with a large brick chimney on the right side. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a single-window range.
The exterior includes a plain plinth, a platt band above the ground floor, and a top cornice made of modillioned brick. The entrance is segmental-headed and features an archivolt with imposts and a key above a half-glazed panelled door. The windows are fitted with sills and 16-pane sash designs, with the ground floor window set in a wide moulded frame.
On the right side, there is a 20th-century addition next to the ground-floor window, which includes a 4-pane horned sash, and above it, a first-floor window with a 3-light pegged casement. The roof has two gabled dormers on either side of the chimney, each with 2-light casements. The left side of the building shows a partly exposed roof truss. A plaque on the building notes that it housed the first borough police station from 1836 to 1889.
