Description

Walcote Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the 17th century, but it was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century. The right side of the building features a mix of timber framing with jowled posts and whitewashed brick infill. The front is made of whitewashed brick, accented with a string course and a brick dentil cornice. The roof is tiled, and there is a brick stack at one end. The farmhouse has two storeys and a four-window range. The entrance includes a six-panelled door with an overlight that has glazing bars, framed by a wood doorcase supported by baseless Tuscan half-columns and topped with a hood. Most of the windows are 19th-century casements with numerous glazing bars, set under segmental brick arches. There are 20th-century leaded-light casements on the right side, with a window above that has grilles and a small opening below. Two ground-floor windows are fitted with old external shutters. The left side of the building has an external stack. This farmhouse is part of an interesting group that includes stables, farm buildings, and a barn.
