Description
Walcote Farmhouse and the attached stable is a house dating from the 17th century, with a cross wing added in the 18th century. The farmhouse is timber framed with lath and plaster infill set on a lias stone plinth, while the cross wing is made of colourwashed brick featuring lias quoins and a brick dentil cornice. The roof is covered with old tiles and has brick ridge, lateral, and end stacks. The building has a T-plan layout, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range. It features a six-panelled door and a 20th-century open porch. The windows are 18th and 19th-century casements with glazing bars, and those in the cross wing have cambered brick arches with keystones. On the right side, there is a lower timber framed section with leaded-light casements. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have exposed framing. The attached stable at the rear of the cross wing has a hayloft above, built of coursed lias with a slate roof. It features a door with a segmental arched head and two small windows, along with a hayloft door.
