Description
The heliochronometer, located approximately 35 metres east of Dunchurch Lodge, was designed in 1902 by G J Gibbs and is part of the landscape design created by T H Mawson for John Lancaster. It features a circular ashlar plinth with two steps, supporting a tripartite fluted column that is decorated with swags, resting on a plain base and topped with a moulded cap. The sundial has a circular bronze dial mounted on a segmental bracket that is inclined to the north. This sophisticated sundial is notable for its technical interest and serves as an important feature within the historic gardens of Dunchurch Lodge.
