SP47SE RUGBY ROAD 1724/2/10034 Heliochronometer approximately 35 18-JAN-01 metres east of Dunchurch Lodge

GV II

Heliochronometer. Designed 1902 by G J Gibbs, and incorporated into the landscape design of Dunchurch Lodge by T H Mawson of Windermere for John Lancaster. Circular ashlar plinth of 2 steps, with tripartite fluted column enriched with swags, on a plain base and with a moulded cap. Circular bronze dial on segmental bracket inclined to north.

This unusually sophisticated sundial is of technical interest in its own right, as well as forming a feature within the historic gardens of Dunchurch Lodge.
