Description
The water steps at Dunchurch Lodge were built in 1908 by T H Mawson of Windermere for John Lancaster. Constructed from ashlar masonry, they are designed in the Renaissance Revival style. Located on the southeast side of an oval pond, the steps feature two shallow flights, with the lower flight being semi-circular. Each side has a square bay that is enclosed on three sides by a pierced balustrade, which includes square corner pedestals topped with eight obelisks on moulded bases. These steps are an important feature of the well-preserved Edwardian landscape.
