Description

The gateway to Dunchurch Lodge Estate was built between 1906 and 1908 by Gilbert Fraser of Liverpool for John Lancaster. It features wrought iron and ashlar construction. The double gates have elliptical heads and an overthrow with a cartouche. Square ashlar piers stand on plinths and are adorned with festoons and moulded caps, each topped with urn finials. The flanking walls are concave and approximately 1.5 meters high, with moulded coping and square terminal piers that also have moulded caps. This gateway is an important part of the garden ensemble at Dunchurch Lodge.
