Description

The precinct wall, located east of the outer gatehouse and surrounding the churchyard of St. Michael and All Saints, dates back to the early 14th century. It is constructed from coursed and squared sandstone and features gable coping. This wall was originally part of the precinct wall for the Priory of Augustinian Canons, which was founded by William de Clinton, Earl of Huntingdon, and consecrated in 1342. The structure is also recognized as a scheduled ancient monument.
