Description
The Old Rectory is a house that was formerly used as the rectory, built in 1849. It is constructed from rock-faced rusticated sandstone and features a plain-tiled roof with end parapets supported by shaped kneelers, along with ridge and end stacks. The building has a main range with a cross-wing and is designed in the Tudor Gothic style, standing two storeys tall.
On the first floor, there are three casement windows with three and two lights, featuring cross frames and splayed mullions set in flat arches. The ground floor has similar window designs. The house includes a gabled porch made from the same materials, which has a pointed outer arch and a part-glazed door.
The Old Rectory is located within the precinct walls of the Priory of Augustinian Canons, which was founded by William de Clinton, Earl of Huntingdon, and consecrated in 1342.
