Description

Willington Lodge is a house, now functioning as a club, built around 1820 with 20th-century additions. The building is constructed of stucco and features a hipped roof covered with graduated slate. It has a double-depth plan and is two storeys high with a four-window range. The right half of the first floor has a sill band, and the eaves are wide and boxed. The central entrance is round-headed and has a hipped porch supported by paired fluted columns that lack capitals, topped with a modillioned cornice. The entrance features a fanlight with decorative glazing bars and a Greek key band above a six-panel door, which has four fielded panels and two flush panels.

The windows are primarily sash windows, mostly with 12 panes, some with horns, and there is one 2/1-pane sash window on the ground floor to the left. The right side of the garden front has a four-window range, with the ends breaking forward. The first floor has a sill band, while the ground floor includes a central bowed tripartite French window set on three steps, accompanied by a bowed verandah supported by reeded columns, featuring a swept roof and two spiked ball finials. There are end French windows set in round-headed recesses, and the first floor has 12-pane sash windows.

The building has two brick cross-axial stacks. The rear of the building is similar, featuring three French windows, two of which have 15-pane sashes, located to the left of the garden wall. The left side has later alterations, including a large first-floor window with eight round-headed lights featuring leaded glazing, as well as a large single-storey addition from the late 20th century.
