Description
Nos. 8, 10, and 12 Sheep Market is a row of three shops that may have originally been a single dwelling. The core of the building likely dates from the 17th century, but it was refronted in the early 19th century. It features a timber-framed and sandstone core, with the street-facing side refaced and rendered. The roofs are covered with Welsh slate and plain tiles.
The building stands three storeys high and has three coped gables. The ground floor of Nos. 10 and 12 has inserted shop fronts, with the one at No. 10 possibly dating from the late 19th century, while No. 12 has an early 20th-century front but retains the fascia and console brackets of an earlier design. No. 8 has a doorway on the left with a moulded wood architrave and a window next to it that has been renewed in its original opening. The upper windows of Nos. 8 and 10 have also been renewed in their original openings, while No. 12 features a 4-pane sash window. The attic storeys have 8-pane sash windows. There are some 18th-century leaded rainwater goods, which include feather-moulding on the rainwater head. The interior has not been inspected.
