Description

The Market Cross is a structure likely dating from the early 15th century. It features a fluted shaft that stands on a stepped base, which is raised on a later quadrant base. At the top, there is a Maltese cross head resting on a small scalloped base. This market cross was originally located in the town center but was moved to the cemetery in 1806, where it remained for some time. It is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
