Description
Nos. 9 and 10 Market Place is a house that has been converted into a pair of shops. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The ground floor is constructed from well coursed and squared stone, while the upper floors are made of brick, topped with a slate roof.
The building has four storeys and features a two-window range. The shop fronts have been inserted, with No. 9 retaining some elements of a late 19th-century front, while No. 10 has been rebuilt in the late 20th century. The first and second storeys have 16-pane sash windows, which include continuous cill bands and flat-arched heads. The attic storey has windows that have been renewed in their original openings. The exterior is finished with a moulded wood eaves cornice and has coped gables with stacks at the end walls. The interior has not been inspected.
