Description

Barn. This barn dates from the late 17th or early 18th century, with later 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of dressed and squared stone with a tiled roof and verge parapets featuring pitched copings. The barn has a two-level plan, incorporating a hayloft over cattle sheds. A hayloft door is located on the right end, alongside two widely spaced, top-hung casements to the left. An entrance with a heavy lintel is positioned towards the right-hand end, with a further entrance on the left end. The barn is situated approximately 20 metres northwest of Gate Farmhouse, bordering the entrance track to the farmhouse and largely screening it from the approach.
